President Obama has been so busy lately that most of his campaign events were broadcast via satellite. These past few weeks have been the most boring in his entire presidency. I know it probably sounds like I’m bashing him, but I feel like this is a big step in the wrong direction for the country. I’m not saying this because I think the president is completely wrong, but I’m just saying this because his message of hope and change has been drowned out by the loud voices of partisan politics.
That being said, I like to imagine that the president is having a nice holiday dinner (or whatever they’re having for dinner) and all the other politicians are sitting around the table, sipping their drink, and telling each other all about the latest news that they’re sure everyone knows.
Or, worse, talking about how great it is to be a politician. I find it disturbing that it’s so easy to forget that you’re actually in charge of something, and that you could be in charge of something that doesn’t even seem to exist.
I find it even more disturbing that the president of the United States is actually making stuff up about something that doesnt even exist. The president of the United States is the one person in the world who has total power. Thats it. It doesnt matter how he is talking.
Obamas speech at the 2009 G20 Summit was as much about how cool it is to be in office as anything else. The president is clearly trying to make his audience believe that he is in charge. I know that sounds like a ridiculous idea, but it is. He is actually the one person in the world who can actually make the laws, and he knows that he can. He is the one person in the world who can actually make some of the decisions about the future.
We’re no longer living in an age of total power. We’ve seen through the power of the presidency that there are certain things that should be done, certain things that should be put in place, certain laws that should be passed. But because the president is still a powerless figure, the people are left with the power to pass whatever they want. Obamas speech at the G20 Summit made that clear.
Obama has a way of making people feel good before he makes a decision. Thats what he did at the G20 Summit when he said, “the whole world is watching,” and he did that at a time when the entire world was watching him make the decisions that he wanted. He could have said, “the whole world agrees with me,” but chose not to because he wasnt one to say no to being right.
Obamas decision not to stand up to the people who want to take away his power is a good example of the kind of decision this president makes. He doesn’t seem to have a conscience, and his actions are not based on logic or reason. He just seems to really like watching other people (who arent him) make the decision.
I had to pause when I read that because I can’t stop laughing. I have to say, it is the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
I can’t get enough and I really hope you can get enough. I am always amazed at the amount of people who feel compelled to stand up for themselves and not give in to the temptation of seeing what the world is really like. It is the human instinct to protect yourself, and this president keeps making the opposite decision. It’s a dangerous temptation, but it’s also the kind of temptation that will keep you in the game for a long time.
